Miss Indian Fort Thomas Veronica Bonilla, Jr. Miss San Carlos Laura Victor and NACC Sponsor Aurelia Bullis recently attended the “Indigenous Night” event this past Saturday in Moab, Utah. The event was honoring Kevin Costner for his upcoming series called “Horizon: An American Saga”. Over the summer and last month, Mrs. Bullis had the opportunity to work with Mr. Costner and the native actors from the series, teaching the actors their lines in Apache. Mrs. Bullis, MIFT Veronica Bonilla and Jr. MSC Laura Victor were invited to represent SCAT and FTHS. In attendance were many invited Native Royalties and famous actors including native actors. Mr. Costner was very excited that our royalties were in attendance and complimented them on how beautiful they looked in their traditional attire.

FTUSD is aware of the flooding along the Gila River. We are closely monitoring the water levels. At this time, we expect buses to run as normal in the morning. If circumstances change, we will send out an alert. As always, our students safety is our top priority. Thank you.

FTUSD: Due to heavy rainfall over night, portions of the Bottom Road and Top Road in Bylas are closed. Students who live in these areas will be picked up by school buses on the highway. Also due to water buses will not be leaving the pavement today, students need to walk to the end of dirt roads/driveways to load the bus in paved areas. Thank you.

FTUSD: Excitement is in the air. Tomorrow, August 3rd is the 1st day of school. As the new school year starts, please help our bus drivers by making sure that your student(s) is at their bus stop on time. Our bus drivers #1 priority is making sure students arrive to school and home safely. Please do not let students walk across the Highway. Morning buses will run the same schedule as last year. Buses will start picking up Bylas students for FTHS and FTE at 6:50 am. Please make sure your student(s) are at their bus stop on time. For students coming from San Carlos, there will be 3 stops. First stop is at Game & Fish at 6:15 am, 2nd stop is Basha’s at 6:25 and 3rd stop is Noline’s at 6:35. Fort Thomas town students, the bus will start picking up at 7:00 am. Please make sure your student(s) are at their bus stop. MTE & MTA buses will start picking up students in Bylas at 6:45 am. Please make sure students are their bus stops. Afternoon buses will follow the same schedule as last year. Staff members will be riding the afternoon buses to ensure students get off at the correct stop until we are settled into a routine. Together we can make 2022-2023 the best school year yet.
